Newport Beach Memory Care was born from love and the desire to do better — for our loved ones, and for yours.
Our Journey
Our journey began with two remarkable women: Lenore de Lorimier and Alice Rawlins, the mothers of Newport Beach Memory Care’s founders, Lisa and Richard de Lorimier. Both women were vibrant, intelligent, and deeply caring. Lenore was a warm, joyful presence who made every guest feel like family. Alice was a health-conscious, retired nurse who kept her mind sharp and her body moving.
And yet, despite their strength and vitality, both women were ultimately diagnosed with dementia.
Their families did everything they could to care for them at home. But as the disease progressed, professional care became necessary. While both Lenore and Alice received comprehensive and compassionate care, they lived in institutional environments where the atmosphere didn’t match the level of attention they deserved. Long hallways, sterile lighting, locked doors, and outdated designs created environments that were hard for them to navigate — emotionally and physically. Visiting became difficult, and guilt was constant.
After losing both their mothers, Lisa and Richard were left not just with grief, but with a lingering sense that more could have been done. They asked themselves: What if memory care could feel different? What if the physical space could help ease anxiety, foster community, and bring comfort to both residents and their loved ones?
That’s why Newport Beach Memory Care was created. Our community is not just a care center, but a thoughtfully designed space that truly supports those living with cognitive decline.
